This can fuel my writing for a whole year. I usually get bored on holiday, so working on my novel-in-progress might be the way to go.Johttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10680813337238122710noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5196270920705499712.post-17357426107389872932015-05-15T12:37:32.946+01:002015-05-15T12:37:32.946+01:00That's a great way to do it, Jo - must really ...That's a great way to do it, Jo - must really deepen the sense of place in your writing!Susan Elliot Wrighthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07330077083045451606noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5196270920705499712.post-44777343287300133992015-05-15T09:49:12.300+01:002015-05-15T09:49:12.300+01:00I write differently when I'm away - because I ...I write differently when I'm away - because I go to some unusual places I find I can keep my curiosity about what's in front of me in my head and - at the same time - allow characters from a novel space to play. So I send them to sleep while I'm and write about what I can see and hear and smell and taste and touch.JOhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03127111575563904349noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5196270920705499712.post-30625083743087534202015-05-14T19:29:28.349+01:002015-05-14T19:29:28.349+01:00That sounds like a very productive way of 'usi...That sounds like a very productive way of 'using' your holiday to further your writing. It's a shame so many writers have to be secretive, isn't it? But so many people don't approve.Susan Elliot Wrighthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07330077083045451606noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5196270920705499712.post-80821928878620600112015-05-14T16:28:43.332+01:002015-05-14T16:28:43.332+01:00I'll be having a week's holiday soon and t...I'll be having a week's holiday soon and there would be an outcry if I so much as picked up a pen! Writing's not something my partner approves of anyway so I tend to do it in private when I'm alone, taking secret days off work. However, I do find that a few days away, taking bracing walks along the beach with my children, does give my head space to start developing new ideas. I usually return from a holiday with a whole new story in my head. I look on it as thinking time rather than doing.Sarah Miller Waltershttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05805232899121144274noreply@blogger.com
